My Journey to A Great Surprise

For months we “knew” we were going to have a baby boy. That's what we were told. Surprise surprise! The doctor exclaimed: “Look, you have a baby girl”. My wife went :”Oh my God...”. And I was speechless. In a few words, that's how everything went.

You see, from the day I met my wife she said that she wanted a baby girl. Of course, my mom (with 3 big boys) wanted a girl as grand-daughter. As far as I am concerned, I wanted a baby boy, but I knew that any baby is a blessing. I just wanted a great player for the Raptors who really need help by now..

We were going to name the boy Joshua. When my friend (that I won't mention here) texted me yesterday after the news that it was a girl, I laughed so hard when he asked me “are you going to name her Joshuelle”. This dude is so funny. He went on telling me that his brother went through the same thing, and was going to call the boy Joshua, just to find out that it was a baby girl (can you believe that!!). Then my friend suggested that, in my next blog I was going to finish like this: Moral of the story? Do you want to have a baby girl? Just expect a boy, and choose the name Joshua....

In the whole process I learned so many things, but the most insightful thing I got to experience is the power of our words. What we say create what we will experience.

As I mentioned, for a long time, my wife wanted a baby girl. She even had a name for her. She was going to call her “Sky” (short for Skylar). So, I started to call her “Mama Sky” even before we were married. After we were told that we were going to have a boy, I kept calling her “Mama Sky” for some reasons. Guess what! She is now officially “Mama Sky”. Skylar-Zoé Imanzi-Bizindavyi was born on June 16, 2012, at 7.32 pm (Toronto time), just one day before Father's Day. What a blessing! She is a beauty.

My wife and I have decided that we are going to create together the life we want by the words we speak. We decide how things will go. So, before going to the hospital, we prayed and agreed that all will be fine, that we would go home the next day, and that our baby will be a blessing for us, it won't cry a lot and will be healthy. Guess what! It happened EXACLY the way we said. It is quite an experience. In the room where she was staying at the hospital, she was the only one to go home after 24 hours. The rest of the moms stayed at least for an extra night. Our baby sleeps so well, she doesn't cry a lot and she is healthy. How cool is that!

A big shout out for my brother and his wife. Wow! I am so glad you are in my life. Our baby is yours too. Gladys, you can take her home for 3 months as you requested. You deserve it

What about me? You may ask. It is just sinking in that I am a dad. It is surreal. All I know is that I will be soon getting calls from the WNBA wanting my baby girl to be a professional Basketball player. They will have to pay big bucks for that.

Moral of the story? Do you want to have a baby girl? Just expect a boy, and choose the name Joshua..

Always a pleasure

  1. Wow! That is divine intervention! God just showed you that despite what you were told (having a boy) you and your wife's desire to have a girl MANIFESTED into reality!

Congrats my friend! Sending your new family lots of love and hugs!

My Journey to Orillia

We drove a little bit late at night. I had been to this place called Orillia before, but it was about ten years ago. I didn’t remember much about it, other than it was beautiful. Here we were on the road, and there was not much we could see, except a signal on the highway that said “beware of cattle”. We thought it was funny.   By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was almost midnight. I went straight to bed. We had to wake up early in the morning as breakfast was scheduled to be served a six O’clock. There was no way I was going to miss out.‎ You may be wondering what was happening in Orillia. I am glad you asked. A number of months ago, Paul, my business partner, got this brilliant idea, and once he shared it with me I was totally on board. He realized that for us to do what we wanted to do, we must work with partners. These may be service providers, or simply other business owners with goals similar to ours. Paul decided to go out and attend different netwo...

My Journey to my wedding

Where do I start? I don't really know. As I am waiting for my flight at Kigali airport, with tears in my eyes, I am thinking about the last few days. There are no words that can explain what I have experienced in this month of December 2010. As Phil Collins said, it's another day in paradise. The person who said that words are powerful was so right. It took a few words from my then girlfriend, now wife (are you kidding me!!!!), to start a series of events that led me to this moment. She just said: “Honey, this long distance thing is killing me”. Having been in a couple of long distance relationships, I knew what she meant. This time, it was different. I had to do something, otherwise, this relationship would end up like the other ones. I had promised myself to do whatever it took to make this one work. As I hung up the phone, I thought I had to move mountains. I had to find a way to meet her. Originally, my intention was to visit her in July 2011, however, this felt like a cent...

My Journey with a Bestseller

Two weeks away from writing (among other things) are now enough. I am back to you… I am getting into the podcast listening world and I am really mad at myself. How in the world was I late to the party? There are powerful podcasts out there, and on various subjects. It is like an all-you- can- eat buffet (you know my well-established relationship with food).  Just last week, I was into productivity podcasts and what I learned was so valuable that I now feel I want to turn my life upside down and start everything from scratch (maybe it would be unproductive but it is worth the try). Anyways… I am here to talk about something different. I can now brag and say that I have a bestseller friend. You don’t believe me? Here is the proof: Bonjour Patrick, J'ai écrit le livre "Introverts: Leverage Your Strengths for an Effective Job Search". Il est devenu #1 sur Amazon pendant le premiers 10 heures et a reçu le statut de Bestseller le 1er Juillet That is a...
