As
I am on the street downtown Toronto, my cellphone beeps. It's an
email coming. I stop a bit to check what it is about and find out it
is from a Speakers' Bureau I have been working with. Then I think:
"This is going to be good stuff"
The
first few sentences get me so excited. An organization in
Newfoundland is looking for a speaker next week for an event they are
having. I almost jump for joy with a high expectation to travel to
Newfoundland, until I find out the meeting will be on....Skype! I
really don't like technology lol.
Maybe
next time!
Yes,
the meeting will be on Skype, but I am still excited even though I
won't fly to Newfoundland. I get to do what I love to do. That is
what is the most important thing.
Anyways...
Today,
I received a quote that I thought was full of wisdom. It is from one
of my favourite authors and speakers: Wayne Dyer. It goes like this:
"With
everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for
yourself or treat what has happened as a gift.
Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle
to keep you from growing. You get to choose."
Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle
to keep you from growing. You get to choose."
It is
funny, because I was listening to Tony Robbins yesterday, and he was
talking about the same thing. We were given a power that no other
species on the planet have. It's called the power of choice. We have
absolute power to choose our thoughts. It took me a very long time to
realize this: I get to choose the way I think about ANY situation
that happens to me.
I can
feel sorry for myself, I can blame the whole world, or simply, I can
decide that this too shall pass, maybe some time down the road I will
come to realize that it was not that bad after all. It was part of a
Master Plan that I was not aware of at the time, and only looking
back I will be able to connect the dots.
I can
also choose to let go of the past, not think much about the future,
and simply live in the now. I can choose that. I have that power. I
think you have it too. That's the beauty.
Moral
of the story? Do you want to live in the now? Just check your email
and you will be on Skype.
Always a
pleasure
