Last week I was proud of myself and I think you should be proud of me too. The reason why I say this is because I kept my commitment to send you the blog this week.
Some of my friends stepped up last week and agreed to hold me accountable and to make sure that I keep my word. Some others did it in a more informal way. This weekend, I was at a reception, and while I was about to go and serve myself some food, a friend came over and said: ‘remember your promise to eat less food’. Somebody has been reading my blog.
Changing habits is not an easy thing. In fact, last week was a little bit hard for me to keep the lifestyle I promised myself to follow. If I were to grade myself, I would give myself a six out of ten. Needless to say there is a lot of room for improvement. To be honest, when it comes to the food part, I think I can actually increase the score to eight out of ten (just because I am hard on myself).
I have also been catching up with people that I haven’t spoken to for a while (and there are a lot of them). One of them was Martin, a very sharp guy who attended our workshop last November. I asked him if he could share with me his opinion on our workshop. What he wrote back was simply humbling and amazing at the same time. Check this out:
I attended the 'No Dream is Too Big or Too Small' Workshop organized by Unleashed Possibilities in November. I arrived with Starbucks in hand and was welcomed by Paul, Patrick, and Monica who introduced me to the other participants who had arrived. The feeling was friendly and informal while still being highly organized and professional.
The great thing about the seminar for me was that it allowed me to revisit some goals I have had 'on hold,' and more importantly reconsider the way to approach them. Rather than listening to a 'canned speech' Patrick and Paul really opened up to us and shared who they were, and the challenges and triumphs that they have had. It was very authentic and inspiring, and it showed me the huge benefit of actually being around like minded people and 'getting the wheels turning' face to face.
Another thing I loved was that personally I don't learn well seated behind a desk for hours, so having group activities, physical movement and music integrated into the experience made it very real and memorable.
As much as I enjoyed the seminar, learned a lot, and met some great people, what brought the benefits into action for me were the personalized follow up sessions that were provided. The specificity of the goals set along with the accountability and support of the coaches, was so valuable and something I feel is missing from many well intentioned people’s plans. As Zig Ziglar said “Some people say that motivation doesn't last. Well neither does bathing. That's why we recommend it daily!'
Our November workshop was a long time coming event. We worked so hard to get there, and faced a number of challenges along the way (that is another story, for another time); however we did it and the feedback from all of the participants was simply amazing. To receive such a message from Martin was music to my ears. We all need some encouragement and Martin's testimonial and feedback came at the right time for me. Now I know that we are on the right track.

Moral of the story? Do you want me to hold you accountable? Just meet me at a reception and we will eat less food.
Always a pleasure
