My Journey to a Meeting with my Publisher

For the first time ever in almost two years, this is the first time that I forgot to write my blog on Monday. Can you believe that? Please don't boo me. I know you couldn't sleep last night waiting for this week's blog in vain. I have to apologize, but once I tell you the reason why, you may forgive me (if I forget again, I will all buy you diner. Hope you won't be so hungry).

My Publisher happened to be in town and he was conducting a two and half day intensive workshop called “Publish your way to profit”. Do you think I was going to miss this one? No way. When I said “intensive”, it is an understatement. It was so intensive that I forgot to write my blog on Monday. Do you forgive me now?

What a week-end! Everything I wanted to know about publishing a book was covered in the workshop. Do you know the best part? I am glad I am THIS attractive (why are you laughing? Don't you find me attractive?). It happened that, in the audience, there was Canada's most successful bestselling author Barry Spillchuck who authored Cup of Soup for the Soul (A Chicken Soup book). Not only this guy is so successful, but he is also so funny. Guess what! Your Journeyman is co-authoring a book with him!!
Can you please read that again? Yes, you got it right. I am co-authoring a book with Barry (talking about being at the right place at the right time). The book is going to talk about the power of mastermind (coming soon in a Theatre near you). What a blessing!

When I arrived home after hearing the news, a friend of mine called me and said: “please watch CNN. They are about to announce a big news”. I thought to myself: “how in the world does CNN know that I am about to co-author with Barry Spillchuck? I didn't tell it to anybody!!”. As it turned out, Obama was announcing....I guess you know what! Anyways. I couldn't sleep that night (like you did while waiting for my blog lol).

When Barry told me that he wanted to co-author with me, all that was going through my mind was the book “The Alchemist”. Paulo Coelho said in the book (and I am paraphrasing) that when you really want something, the whole universe conspires for you to get it. How true is that! All I want is to influence the world by my writing, and I happened to be in the right workshop with the exact people who are going to help me fulfill my dream. What are the odds?

As I am catching up my breath, now comes another exciting event this coming Saturday as I will be sharing the stage with Gerry Robert (are you kidding me!!!).

All I got to say is, please do follow your dream. It may be hard, it may be scary at moments, but all we need is take the first step and the rest is in God's hands. I can't say that I thought about quiting when it was hard, but it was so hard (and still is) to keep going without seeing any results. But if we don't give up, there is a prize at the end. Barry Spillchuck was my prize this week-end.

Moral of the story? Do you want to make your dreams come true? Just keep reading my blog and you will also be attractive.

Always a pleasure

Patrick

My Journey to Orillia

We drove a little bit late at night. I had been to this place called Orillia before, but it was about ten years ago. I didn’t remember much about it, other than it was beautiful. Here we were on the road, and there was not much we could see, except a signal on the highway that said “beware of cattle”. We thought it was funny.   By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was almost midnight. I went straight to bed. We had to wake up early in the morning as breakfast was scheduled to be served a six O’clock. There was no way I was going to miss out.‎ You may be wondering what was happening in Orillia. I am glad you asked. A number of months ago, Paul, my business partner, got this brilliant idea, and once he shared it with me I was totally on board. He realized that for us to do what we wanted to do, we must work with partners. These may be service providers, or simply other business owners with goals similar to ours. Paul decided to go out and attend different netwo...

My Journey to my wedding

Where do I start? I don't really know. As I am waiting for my flight at Kigali airport, with tears in my eyes, I am thinking about the last few days. There are no words that can explain what I have experienced in this month of December 2010. As Phil Collins said, it's another day in paradise. The person who said that words are powerful was so right. It took a few words from my then girlfriend, now wife (are you kidding me!!!!), to start a series of events that led me to this moment. She just said: “Honey, this long distance thing is killing me”. Having been in a couple of long distance relationships, I knew what she meant. This time, it was different. I had to do something, otherwise, this relationship would end up like the other ones. I had promised myself to do whatever it took to make this one work. As I hung up the phone, I thought I had to move mountains. I had to find a way to meet her. Originally, my intention was to visit her in July 2011, however, this felt like a cent...

My Journey with a Bestseller

Two weeks away from writing (among other things) are now enough. I am back to you… I am getting into the podcast listening world and I am really mad at myself. How in the world was I late to the party? There are powerful podcasts out there, and on various subjects. It is like an all-you- can- eat buffet (you know my well-established relationship with food).  Just last week, I was into productivity podcasts and what I learned was so valuable that I now feel I want to turn my life upside down and start everything from scratch (maybe it would be unproductive but it is worth the try). Anyways… I am here to talk about something different. I can now brag and say that I have a bestseller friend. You don’t believe me? Here is the proof: Bonjour Patrick, J'ai écrit le livre "Introverts: Leverage Your Strengths for an Effective Job Search". Il est devenu #1 sur Amazon pendant le premiers 10 heures et a reçu le statut de Bestseller le 1er Juillet That is a...
