My Journey to a Seminar

It has been a while since I had an entire day to rest. On Saturday I went to bed at 9 PM (I think it is the first time I ever went to bed this early). I was so exhausted that I couldn't stand (which leaves me wondering if that is the reason why my Lakers lost on Sunday?).

Saturday was a dream come true for me. I have spoken in front of hundreds of people before, but this particular event had something special to it. We had a line up of amazing speakers, guests showed up as expected and I had so much fun being on the stage sharing my story. I had great feedback and many of our guests expressed interest in meeting up with me so that I could share with them what we do at Goal Achievers.

It was eight years ago that Paul and I used to meet for breakfast almost every Saturday to talk about what we wanted to do in the future (one of them being Paul paying for the breakfast lol). As I was waiting for my turn to speak on Saturday, I couldn't help but notice the smile on Paul's face. He did not have to say much. I knew what the smile meant. “Yes we made it”. Who knew?

These are the finest moments of my life as I am getting ready to go back home to Burundi for three months, and return to Toronto to run Goal Achievers Canada full time. Yes Torontonians, June 14 will be my last day at my current job (a job that has been a blessing to me for almost 7 years). I am dedicating the rest of my career to help others achieve their goals, doing what I love to do: writing, coaching and speaking.

Sometimes we do things or things happen to us that we do not realize their impact on our our life until we share them with others. As I was talking with my good friend Jeff, he couldn't believe what was happening to me. I mentioned to him that all these good things started to happen to me since I got married (I know I am getting too personal here lol). It doesn't seem to stop (and I don't want it to stop lol). I will always give credit to God, but my wife is playing a big role in my life (I hope she will read this one lol). She just allows me to be...me, and she is with me every step of the way (even though she is miles and miles away). What a blessing.

My friend Barry said at our seminar “if it is not my genius, it's not my job”. How true it is! Once we find what we are supposed to do on this earth, the rest is not even up to us. We enter in a flow that allows us to reach our goals effortlessly, the right people seem to show up at the right time, and even challenges don't seem to affect us anymore. We know it is part of the process.

My challenge to you all is to find what you love to do, and then do it. Something that you feel you could do for free, something that you fall in love with, something you are so passionate about that you can't wait to wake up in the morning so that you can do it. When that happens, just watch how things move so quickly that your next challenge becomes finding a way to manage them. It takes faith to take the first step, but once you take the step, the rest will fall into place. Remember you have to plant a seed first before it can grow into a tree. But, please do not forget that it is all about the journey, not the destination. That is the word from the Journeyman.

Moral of the story? Do you want to enjoy your life? Just find what you love to do and my friend Paul will buy you breakfast.

Always a pleasure

My Journey to two stories

I participated in a communication's course last week-end. Talk about being at the right place at the right time. It was unbelievable! Do you know what was the emphasis in the course? Guess! It was communication in relationships! No comment! Lol During the course, I reflected on two stories that I would like to share with you (free of charge of course). Here they are: There was an old guy who was sleeping in his couch. His grandkids came over while he was sleeping and placed a piece of cheese under his nose. Soon after, the guy woke up and exclaimed: “this room stinks!” He went into the kitchen and said again: “This kitchen stinks as well, maybe I should go outside”. He went outside, but still the same smell was around. Finally, in disgust he shouted: “The whole world stinks”. Little did he realize that the scent came from the cheese that was under his nose. Did you like that story? If not, I won’t share the next one. ..........Okay, okay, seeing that you insist, I wi...

My Journey to Orillia

We drove a little bit late at night. I had been to this place called Orillia before, but it was about ten years ago. I didn’t remember much about it, other than it was beautiful. Here we were on the road, and there was not much we could see, except a signal on the highway that said “beware of cattle”. We thought it was funny.   By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was almost midnight. I went straight to bed. We had to wake up early in the morning as breakfast was scheduled to be served a six O’clock. There was no way I was going to miss out.‎ You may be wondering what was happening in Orillia. I am glad you asked. A number of months ago, Paul, my business partner, got this brilliant idea, and once he shared it with me I was totally on board. He realized that for us to do what we wanted to do, we must work with partners. These may be service providers, or simply other business owners with goals similar to ours. Paul decided to go out and attend different netwo...

My journey to Choq

Here I am again with another unknown word. What in the world is the meaning of Choq? This is the name of the first radio station I worked at in Canada (so far it's the first and only station, but I believe there are many more to come). How did I come to know about this station? It's a long story. Here I am, new to Canada, with three years of experience in radio broadcasting under my belt, trying to nail my first job without even getting my work permit yet (Superman, watch out). The only connection I had in Toronto was the Internet (what a good one!), and the only place I knew was the public library (another good one). Networking has been one of my strengths (the Internet and the public library were the first good business contacts I made. I was the man!!!). But, after a few calls, I knew that my two contacts were not enough. I had to meet real people. However, I kept coming back to the library (I am a faithful friend) because the Internet helped me to keep in touch with my fami...
